Focus Stacking

Recommended Posts

Posting the news about Fuji's auto focus stacking update reminded me of these.  They are an exercise in manual focus stacking using a Fuji X-Pro1 and stacking in PS CS6.  Not difficult with a static subject.  I wonder if Fuji's update will be fast enough to catch insects.

Lovely sharpness there. The second one is impressive.

Nice shots.  The full camera image looks great against the blurred background.

The first is very good, but the second has the  kind of artefacts I generally associate with excessive noise reduction  (look especially at the eyelet just below the shutter control).

I've been trying to ID the Camera -- am I right in thinking it's a fairly early Ikonta 520 6x4.5.

Thanks for the comments all.  I was impressed by how well Photoshop combined the separate frames.  I had thought to buy some specialist software but I don't think there is a need.

James, no noise reduction applied.  Taken at ISO 200 on a Fuji X Pro 1 with a 60mm f2.4 macro lens mounted.  I think it might just be wear and tear or something introduced in the process of combining the separate images..  You are right about the camera.  Sadly probably long past the point of repair but it's in the cabinet on show. I really like these old cameras and I have had one or two refurbished just for the hell of it.  Sadly 127 roll film is a bit rare otherwise I might have considered bringing it back to life.
