New toys

I've been busy over the last few weeks trying to sort out my problem with colour fringing using tube lenses, then I discovered The Extreme Macro website ( well worth a visit ) one of the solutions proposed was using a Raynox closeup filter as a tube lens. So I bought four sets of extension tubes lots of stepping rings and reversing rings and a Raynox dcr150. The flange depth on my Fuji camera is 17.7mm, the overall length to the Raynox had to be 208.33mm ( the focal length of the Raynox ), so using a mix of extension tubes and all sorts of stepping rings and after a bit of sanding down got it the correct length. then I painted the inside of the tube assembly with matt black nail varnish to cut down internal reflections, this is the first shot a stack of 72 of a very small fly.

Impressive results, but it sounds like an awful lot of work.

Weary, you have.....Cracked it !

To achieve results like this from  a Raynox macro filter is truly amazing ......I take my cap of to you sir....for your obvious skills and photographic talent.

I too belonged to a worldwide Macro site for quite a few years, I won decent prizes for two of my offerings and a Japanese professor used my macro study of worms in a presentation....with permission.

I took it all very seriously, but then, when my vision became totally blurred by cataracts and later retinal surgery, it all had to go including my Sony camera and macro lenses, including my Raynox kit.....I still miss it all.

You make up for it though .....by putting me back in touch with this exciting side if our incredible hobby.

Many of your pics are good enough for publication, so don’t miss out on any opportunity to promote your best work.

MORE PLEASE !

I don't know why I got all those emoticons, and I can't remember how to edit the post.

I think I have been away too long.
