A LITTLE GEM

Recommended Posts

I demonstrated just how versatile my AF 12-60 lens was last week, with all my Castle and other examples from wide angle to close up....all done at the press of the shutter.

Today it is the turn of a little gem of a Vintage, manual focus lens...a ZEISS JENA 2.8-50 that has the remarkable ability to focus really close....or...to become a cracking Street Lens.

Wide  open it gives those beautiful soft-edged flower studies...closed up a little sharp close ups almost as if from a dedicated macro lens.

Then at f 8 it produces sharp Street Photographs especially when the Hyperfocal or Zone focusing is set right...setting it to Infinity give sharp results also.

The colour results speak for themselves.

Obviously it does take a little more work to produce each shot, but that can add to the fun of Photography.

All frames shot RAW.....a few as shot, others cropped...all processed using Photoshop CS 6 and Nik Efex.

As a fully paid up member of the Awkward Squad, I'd have to choose the last shot as my favourite. Very nice!

I have the same lens, but I've not used it for a long time. I really need to get my act together and get out with a camera.
