lol - I think Guppy is its nickname.
It's a long time since this one got off the ground.  It's an exhibit at Bruntingthorpe - an old airfield where the last Vulcan was put back in the air a few years ago.
They also have taxiing days twice a year (May and September) where they taxi some of the older aircraft that are no longer airworthy.  It is a tremendous day out, both photographically and otherwise, and there is nothing quite
like a big old Victor or VC10 thundering past a few yards away, then parachuting to a halt at the end of the runway. If you go, remember to take earplugs else it hurts!  :1_grinning:

One of these flew low over our house a year or so back, I did post pictures....a very unusual aircraft indeed.

Apparently they ferry Boeing  A380 wings from France to the UK .... that day it had been diverted to Birmingham Airport...we live under the main landing approach.

Funny how for years a Boeing aircraft helped build Airbus aircraft. These are Super Guppies there was an earlier piston driven version, I’m not even sure it exists even in a museum anymore.

Nasa still list one as operational not sure how much it’s used but it’s listed as current and airworthy inventory.

Very cool shot!

I know the laws of physics apply, but how on earth did this ever get off the ground?  :1_grinning:

I hope it keeps applying. We have these regularly flying over our house at great height, on clear days they do stand out.
