You must be too young to remember them then, Annie. :smiling:

I remember them very well.......in their original form obviously........I can just imagine vet James Herriot arriving at an isolated farm in one lowered like that.

It drove to and from the show under its own power (V8 Diesel power!) It has airbag suspension, so the ride height can be set from the drivers seat (in the case of this one, there are a pair of old fashioned bath taps used to control the air valves!)

I wondered about how they get away with the open wheels - no covers at all.  Apparently both tax and MOT exempt due to its age. I missed it parked next to an unmodified version of the same car earlier in the day - an astounding difference!!

Mud gaurds are apparently a construction and use issue and not an MOT issue

Its a grey area, the argument if its dry it dosnt need mud gaurds / fenders, spray control

Some have been fined but its a no pointer on the liscense, some have driven for years fenderless, some carry "clip on gaurds"

Right, didn't know that  - I got fined for having more than an inch of tyre protruding from the wheelarch and had to have the car re-MOTed, assumed it would be the same

Its a similar principal to lights on a motor cycle, If fitted they must be correct but if they arnt there its not mot able

Hence your wheels wernt covered by the wings that were there so its illeagle and will fail the mot  but if you hadnt any wings at all there is an argument for the legality and its not in the mot test

at least thats how it was explained to me

if they were there on the original, and I'm assuming there would have been some sort of mud guards, should it not be classed as unroadworthy even if it doesn't need an mot? After all the weather does change and you can be fined for not having working lights even in day light? Must be one of those 'we don't have a clue' policing issues.

any modded car gets my vote, just being a bit (or in this case a LOT) different is what it's all about, and the satisfaction of doing stuff yourself is brilliant :)

thanks for sharing..

If you have lights fitted  they must work If you dont have lights or wiring for such etc then you are only at odds with the law in darkness or bad weather  Same apparently with mud gaurds but a little more of a grey area
