Did my usual after breakfast wander on our block with the girls and the difference in our vegetation is interesting. All of our wattles, (mimosas to you), and we have about 10 different varieties are nearly all gone now, and this is pretty much all that is left of our 'yellows':

Most have now gone to seed and look like this:

Or this:

Or even this - perfect circles!:

But... we have got some new colour coming through - these are Melaluca  species and we have two different sorts:

This is a Fringe Myrtle:

A native Hop Bush:

All of this vegetation growing on the block is as a result of a seeding program which asked us when we bought the block if they could help to re-establish native vegetation to help create natural environment for the native wildlife. I think it's worked!

We are now getting skies like this - signs of our Summer:

And we enjoy views like this as we wander:

And Kelly & Brodie just love their mowed paths:

Hopefully the camera will come out a bit more when our crazy weather settles a bit.

Seeding program - great idea.

Thanks Kev - when we bought the block it was virtually bare of any native vegetation, apart from a few tall trees, because it had been used for sheep grazing. Pretty close in our area there is a rare threatened species - mallee fowl, and there is a nest on a nearby block, and we have conservation reserves both to the east and west, therefore as people bought the blocks they were approached to see if they would let the seeding take place, to sort of make nature paths for the local wildlife, and it has worked nicely on our place!
