Weybourne Station near Sheringham Norfolk

Shot in RAW, I did my best with editing them in Nikons ViewNX2 software, those more experienced with ViewNX may have teased more out of the image than I can at the moment, but hey, I'm learning !

Annoyed by the fact that even after resizing below 300kb, i still cannot post images direct, so photobucket it is :(

Apart from the first one taken on the 18-55 kit lens, the others were taken with the 35mm prime.

Denis it could be because you have multiple pics in your post... the total post would have to be  300kb or below rather than each individual picture ?

what i tend to do is to post one picture then reply on my own thread to post the next and so on... that way each picture can be 300kb or below

hope that helps

nice set of pictures though but no1 is my favourite

Thanks all, I have another shot taken on the walk from Sheringham to Weybourne via the coastal cliff walk (4 miles), the other train on the line in the distance is the one you can have a complete four course dinner on. You travel the line between Sheringham and Holt three times, stopping at Weybourne on route.

On every up journey, you have a course, Starters, Main course and Dessert. On the final down journey from holt to Sheringham, you have coffee.

Three hours relaxing on a steam train, being served food that was actually cooked in the Kitchen Car, and served on the Pullman dining carriages is on our next to do list :)

The weird thing is, to me by far the best picture is the one you took with the kit lens (#1). Maybe it's just my computer monitor, but the others with the prime lens look to have a preponderance of red tones, especially seen in the faces?

It may be me cocking up the processing Chris. It was the first time using RAW and I'm not very clever with the processing of images anyway :)

Rather you than me! I wouldn't know where to begin with RAW - I'm a dab hand with JPEGs in Photoshop though

I love these pics, you have had a real go at pulling out detail and atmosphere........

.......As to processing, I used to be a JPEG only man, until Lee and other PS savvy members almost bullied ;-) me into shooting in nothing but RAW......now, I would shoot in nothing else, unless doing so specifically for email or the Web.

I do know, that processing RAW files gives you more chance of teasing out every little nuance of detail, tone, texture and atmosphere from everything but blown or blocked areas of a shot. After two or more years of processing RAWs in CS3 my skills base is expanding, as is my ability to enhance or to alter any shot.

With the assistance of members of this, and other specialist forums, I have developed a set of procedures that I know, work, exceptionally well, it may not please the PS experts who use the software as professionals.

Look back in my posting history and you should find my tutorial, on using layers and soft brushes to adjust everything from contrast to saturation with layers being flattened between each step, the final step, is to utilise targeted sharpening, again, using harder brushes on layers, this can not only increase the RAW overall sharpness but can be targeted to boost textures, especially in foregrounds, hair and textiles.

I realise that my PS work mode won't suit all; but it works for me.....and having just leapt into the magical realms of CS6 I am beginning to learn, all over again.

My advice then, is to only shoot in RAW, then dabble, and dabble again with all the bells and whistles that your particular Photo Software has to offer......just remember to protect your original shot, and back up all important files.

If I were a user of PS Fuji, i would follow your tutorials with relish :) however, I only have access to Nikons own 'ViewNX' software that came with the camera.

I have not found any filters or such in its toolbox yet!
