Walking near †he village of Holme in Cumbria a couple of days ago and came across a small stretch of limestone pavement where I discovered this small shrub growing between blocks of stone. Later, I met with a fellow rambler who explained that the limestone blocks are known as clints and the gaps between them are called grikes. Hence.....

Castlerigg Stone Circle - if I was going to build a stone circle - I know I would have avoided where Stonehenge was built in Salisbury in Wiltshire (which is as flat as a pancake and totally boring) and built it here....

Or you could use stone from the various mountains that surround it on 4 sides and just roll them down hill... and not have to drag them (the 'bluestones' of Stonehenge) from 140 miles away....:1_grinning:
