TIPF Big Day Out Autumn 2017 - Buxton Peak District

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I am going to the steampunk at Haworth regardless Korks but it is quite late in the year  ..... The Buxton day out was considered that it might suit more people  for a big day out and before the clocks go back . Rye has been doing a reccie and talked about taking a trip to Chatsworth but there is a lot of repair work there with scaffolding everywhere around the house  it seems till next year. It may  not  be decent weather so it could be more of a social get together if that turned out to be the case ... ... And that's fine with me too.  ...choosing a venue to eat and book in advance  will be maybe the next step ... ... I can't  do a dry run from here  but maybe Rye can check out somewhere  suitable to have an extended lunch....

.

I think I considered Chatsworth interior as an option if the weather was not too great, but there's also Poole's Caverns, around 0.7miles from Buxton centre (and a museum and Stately House in Bakewell). Failing that, we could carry aroud some big umberellas... for those who don't have fully weather sealed camera's...

Given the vagaries of the UK weather, at any time of year, I thought it best to at least come up with a backup plan for somewhere to photograph....

If it's just three of us  I don't suppose it's vital to book a table  for Lunch ... But  it might  be worth it ...., I shall have to leave  for home  by 3pm as I  can't drive distances in the dark now since I have a cataract starting in my left eye ...it's  a ruddy nuisance ..:(

I have been quiet on this one.  Truth is I am just backing off a few things now as a restructureca at work could see me redundant.  So I am just getting ready for an adjustment to my finances if I decide to take redundancy or this becomes a decision outside of my control.  Not that I am too worried mind you.

OK, I'm up for it. However......

I got family stuff on Friday and I'll be driving home from Skipton pretty late in the evening. So..... I'll be catching the train which gets into Buxton at 10:40am, is there somewhere I can meet you?

Hint: I'll be gagging for a brew!
