That's a very pleasing image Beth ...with an ominous looking sky ...Very balanced with the composition too. Would it benefit from a mono process? I'd love to see it as personally I think it would ... but  tis just an opinion....:yes

The thing is Guys the image conveys a dark scene with overcast clouds, a track that goes nowhere next to a wood that hides scary creatures and would you knock on the door of that barn?  -  lifting/brightening levels or BW would lose that story.

I might be tempted to darken part of the light tree branch(?) bottom right that pulls the eye away otherwise I think it is fine as it is.  Good work Beth, my kind of picture :1310_thumbsup_tone1::clap:

I can see that there are lots of options regarding more than one version of this excellent photograph.

The shot has many elements which are just right......A broad selection of tones.....an intriguing main subject,......a dramatic sky, plus,  plenty of textures to play around with.

A play around with various crop ideas would be my first step, followed by one or more colour versions, including a subtle HDR one......these would be followed by at least two mono studies.....one almost straight from camera, and another given my usual targeted tonal layering technique to emphasise certain ares.

A great study, with lots to offer in the post-processing department.
