INKED BUT SHY

Very  interesting (expected) responses here..........

The story.....I had been hospital visiting, we were all waiting for a bus in or very close to a bus shelter.......my camera had just been put back on from my bag.

My subject and his girlfriend lit cigarettes as did another gent.....I automatically moved some yards away on the upwind side....... when they had all finished their cigarettes I moved closer to the stop.

It was then that I notices his extensive tattoos, on being asked if I could photograph them he readily sgreed, but literally squirmed with embarrassment , on each of my two shots he is looking away from the camera....quite unusual, because heavily tattooed subjects are normally extrovert, only too willing to show their inkings off.

I gave him my card, and an invite to email for a copy.....He hasn't taken the offer up.

You are both right.....It IS an awkward photograph,

Which is why I posted it.......

Some quality ink work there nicely captured and mono works well I prefer my tattoos in black and grey.

As for tattooed subjects being normally extrovert I fall in the quite heavily tattooed category and I too am far from extrovert. Very few of my family/friends/work colleagues are even aware I have tattoos.

That's all the justification you need, right there.

Lovely photograph actually, you've really nailed the tone - and the fact that he's so awkward and yet so obviously tattooed makes the photo that much more interesting.
