Im intrigued how you created the soft focus of this one: outside petals look translucent sort of.

The processing was done using Nik Colour Efex and a combination of three different textures, two of which were removed from the leaves, buds and petals using layer masks. If I'm honest, I had an idea of what I wanted to achieve, but it was my usual trial and error technique that won through in the end.

Thought I'd add an Aussie flavour. Billy Buttons are indigenous wildflowers on the Patho Plains, part of the Murray Darling flood plains. They have very compact solid flower heads.As kids we used them to hit each other on the head.

Love this shot but submitting photos of Aussie summer flowers in Brtish midwinter seems a bit like fighting dirty!

The rules say the  pic can be from one's  archives for the weekly challenge David..  and most usually are ......  .Dee on the other hand wouldn't not know what fighting dirty was if it  jumped up and smacked her on the  chops ....
