Lovely Shot .Jeff.. the rather smart chap you can see looked at first as if he was standing onthe outside of the train ... then i realised he was actually half in but the reflection gives an almost optical illusion that  he's stood completely outside the cab !;)

This is a lovely shot and creates an appeal that , in my eyes, no modern train image will ever achieve.

I'm just getting into black and white photography myself and I'm enjoying looking at all the different black and white subjects on the site that members are uploading.

Which railway had 0-8-0T's? I've seen plenty of 0-6-0 and 0-4-0 but never an 0-8-0.

I too was thinking not many 0-8-0 out there here in the states many roads had 0-6-0 as yard engines but not sure I have ever even seen an 0-8-0. This is a grand photo thanks for posting I enjoyed it.

So do I Jeff ...I don't know what it is   and I don't know a lot about  the technical aspects of  steam engines but the  actual nuts and bolts ( yes literally ) of these machines  look like works of art to me..such fine engineering craftsmanship ... Sadly a  skill that has all but been lost  except for those few enthusiasts  who support  many of our  Steam Loco preservation groups up and down the country.. Thanks for posting that Chorley Jeff ... ...Let's have some more  please ....
