A Minute In Time

Up early (ish) this morning and out at the beach as usual with Jasper. The weather is - lets say - changeable so I took my rucksack with my waterproof in and because I had the space and didn't have to actually carry it in my hand I bunged my lightweight Manfrotto tripod in there too so I could shoot some long exposures with the iPhone. I pre-ordered the new iPhone 7+ yesterday for delivery next Friday when they go live so this week will be the last time I shoot with my current iPhone 6 so I've decided make an extra effort to go out and use it as a proper camera.

First one is quite minimal with a cool mono conversion where I've deliberately pushed up the mid tone slider to soften the detail then cropped hard to concentrate the eye on the wide horizon.

On this shot went the other way with a warm tone to more closely mimic the original rocks and a fair bit more detail and contrast to bring out the structures.

As I also had the Fuji with me and I had nowt else to do for 60 seconds I thought I'd shoot a behind-the-scenes image of the iPhone in action

A great set BP.......the second being the best.

IPHONES?

I keep hinting to my daughter in law to pass on her dated iPhones, her contract allows renewal every year `i think.....trouble is......my 19 and 12 year old granddaughters get first choice.

To have a 12 year old with an iPhone 5 is a bit galling.........isn't it?

I remain very happy with my now dated....NOKIA 1020 Windows phone  ....it is super fast on the net.......has a fantastic camera....but nowadays the iPhones call.

I can't have ....Double Glazing in my office.....a replacement (used) VIAO laptop .....and an iPhone.......:-((

Jodie's just turned 11 and has had a 6 for a year, 4s before that. I now pay for a contract for myself and one for her which means I get to upgrade every year and she gets my hand-me-downs, she'll have a 6s Plus come November

Nope, the only photos in my phone are what I've sent from the Fuji.

While I'm here, would you consider yourself a gear snob?

But it's a "Lightweight Manfrotto Tripod", mine is a lightweight tripod

I get you - thats 24 years working in a camera shop and being asked specifics day-in-day out so I tend to use manufacturers names as its just second nature.

I would like it in my kit bag. :) Looks good.

Its a neat little thing and for £40 (think I must have caught a promotion but the black is now the same cost - http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras-and-camcorders/photography-accessories/tripods/manfrotto-compact-light-red-tripod-10010405-pdt.html if you can't live with bright red) its a bargain. The only things missing are a QR plate (not bothered as the phone adapter is always on there - a Joby GripTight Mount for the gear snobs) and you can't open the legs beyond their standard position. Other than that its great and only weights 816g.

YUP! I agree.......it is what makes TIPF the forum to join.

Ant to think, I joined all those years ago, using an obscure, never to be seen again Chines made...megxon......Bridge camera, that took an age to start up and played a music box tune as it did so.....it's a wonder BP didn't ban me?

But without his superior and very real knowledge of all the photography related brands ....I wouldn't have the gear and knowledge I have today......Thanks!

I have a huge, heavy Manfrotto tripod, an absolute bargain via EBay, from a seller who didn't realise it's true value......like a rock it is.
