Todays Bug Hunt

Recommended Posts

A bit of a mixed bag on todays bug hunt, finally around 5:30pm the rain stopped and the skies cleared, so grabbed the camera and flash and tubes and headed off to a local pinic site, which during the earlier parts of the year I'd been taking photo's of birds, but has also proved quite successfull with bugs and I've seen quite a few new ones..

Aphid/Greenfly - I never know which

Some sort of beetle Preparing for lift off - I've never managed a image of one doing this before..

He went that way... A very tiny fly

A Shield Bug...

Another Shield Bug... A different make...

A Hoverfly - I think - though I've never seen the mouthparts like this...

The detail is quite stunning, Rye. I've lost my exif reader and can't get the camera details. What lens are you using. It gives very sharp images. Love it!

Thanks Brian, the lens was the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro + EP12 Ext Tube, iso200, f11, 1/200th

Thanks everyone...

Thanks Chris and Paul, I've never managed one just about to take off before so I was quite pleased with that one - though I did wish it would turn around and face the camera. I did like the way it's wings unfurled a bit like a shops sails..
