Well, it looks like a nice fluffy little robin and well framed, Geoff

I wonder if the robin photos are of the same one who flies around the country posing when it sees someone with a camers

Thanks everyone. He wasn't just posing for me, there were 3 other people much closer taking pictures on their phones. I had to stand further back as I was using the Sigma 150-600mm, this was at 500mm, f7.1, iso400, 1/30th - I was resting the lens on a fence post.

Now that is a very nice shot you've taken there Rye... Fence posts come in very handy don't they ... Especially if you find one strategically  positioned...   It's a good lens that one ...  You seem to get the best out of it  too .

I have had my eye on the Sigma for a while now, my main interest being wildlife and from all the reviews I have seen it is highly rated. Trouble is I don't think it is available for Sony yet but apparently it is going to be released in Sony fit in the near future. I have also been considering the Tamron 150-600, it is quite a bit a lighter but from the comparisons I,ve seen its maybe not quite as sharp at 600mm but still very very good.

Sorry Rye I am barging in on your post, apologies..

It's all pertinent  to the  shot that  Rye took though Ron innit  so don't feel too bad ....;) ..:). AND as  a Sony   owner I'm interested too...after all it  is one of the reasons  we get together on here ... to compare notes on  our  experiences with a camera... I'll keep an eye open for the Sony  lens like you Ron ...

Thanks everyone. I've found the Sigma lens to be really good, it's only the Contemporary Version not the Sports (C is £800-900, Sports is £1400-1500). It is a big lens (sports is even bigger) and you certainly know you've been carrying after 4 hours, even with the neck strap on both lens and camera. Sigma's website says it weighs just over 4lbs - the Sport version is almost 7lbs. Checked online for a Sony mount - lots of rumours but no definite date as yet.
