So disappointed in this.
Having read all the Harry Hole novels, I have had this on pre-order for ages.
Didn't realise it was actually a re-working of Shakespeare's Mabeth, set in 70s Scotland.
It's hard to believe Nesbo actually wrote it, it is such hokum.
But I paid for it, so I'm darned well going to finish it, complaining all the way.

Just been handed my first Harry Hole "The Snowman"
I am finding it interesting but in places hard going remembering all the Norwegian names and occasionally there appears to be a whoopsy in the translation from Norwegian when a word is missed or the sentence dosnt seem to make sense

Or is it just me???

It’s horrible when you are compelled to read a book that you just can’t get on with.

These days, I don't.  I give a novel a decent chance but I won't finish it if by about half way through it hasn't grabbed me.  A few year ago, my wife bought me a set of Dickens which I feel I ought to read. Now there is a struggle because despite being so well regarded as literature, the language and style defeats me every time.  Think I have probably been spoiled by so many good TV interpretations.

Now that sounds fascinating. I've made a note.

Currently I'm reading the latest Ian Rankin.  He has resurrected Rebus in retirement.  He and Reginald Hill (sadly no longer with us) with his  Dalziel & Pascoe characters are probably my favourite thriller writer simply because of their mastery of colloquial dialogue.

Currently re-reading Conn Iggulden's Wolf of the Plains (the story of Ghengis Khan) - the old fashioned way using a paper book, I must admit I love the feel of a real paper book, something I can hold and turn pages. I've never got into reading via Kindle or owt else digital...
