I guess you could say Polly was lucky to get this ... but she still had to get out there with her camera, make sure the composition was good, the focus point was in the right place, and all without scaring off the hawk. Nice one!

Perhaps the subject matter is a bit gory for some tastes ... but it is a great capture all the same.

Thanks Kate ... it's hard sometimes  to accept  that Nature always has a Ying to it's Yang ... it's the Balance that ensures survival isn't it? I'd lay  money on the fact that it's unlikely to happen again  with such a photo opportunity ...so  I just kept clicking ..Sometimes when you actually  come eye to eye with a wild animal /Bird  like this ...in it's own environment ,. something almost primal happens and you just  have a deepened respect for the way Mother Nature has it all worked out ... Such a shame it's  us humans who seem to be messing it all up ...

I am always  open to  suggestions and truly don't mind anyone editing my pics .Please feel free anytime ....I respect  anyone's  view when it comes to what they like or don't like in an image .... it's such a personal thing. I 'd be honest and say  if I liked it more  or not.. SO ...PLEASE  ... don't feel that I  consider it a criticism... it's an opinion.. we all have one ...it's life !

Sadly this was a racing pigeon... I didn't have the heart to let the owner know initially  and by the time I had second thoughts, hubby had disposed of the carcass with the identifying leg ring ....
